Yes, it is correct if the sound is correct. You can practice until the sound comes from the centre of your lips, but this is not absolutely necessary.

Bert Lochs plays a Van Laar B8 trumpet and a van Laar B2 flugel. A customized Curry 10.5C trumpet mouthpiece and a self designed piece on his flugelhorn. Both pieces share a sixties (Ratzenberger) Jettone rim.
