Things I gained
Things I gained besides range:
- I don't have to warm up endlessly and still hope for a good day to be able to play high C (really, that was my pre-BE feeling. I had to warm up for half an hour to be able to play high C at all. Most of the time I could make it, and even a bit higher on good days, but there were days that I could hardly play high G).
- I can play after a couple of days away from the horn, whereas in former days I just couldn't. I don't want to promote bad practicing habits, but we all need a holiday sometimes, and it's good to know that you can play after having a good time. Man, I don't have to fiddle around with a mouthpiece all day, I mean, it is pretty romantic standing on a beautiful seashore in the south of Italy, buzzing your mouthpiece, but it's much more romantic to sit there with your girlfriend!
- Endurance and security of attack has grown tremendously, my tone has opened up and become much more alive and vibrant.
- I have less problems with switching between flugel and trumpet, my two main instruments. I still don't like it, but it takes just a few notes to adjust.
